The world's largest diamond mining company, it has primary control over all diamonds mined in South Africa and Zambia. Headquartered in Kimberley, South Africa. Sales are handled by the group's Central Selling Organization (CSO), which controls 85% of the world diamond market. De Beers Consolidated Mines was formed in 1888 by the merger of CJ Rhodes' De Beers Mines and Kimberley Mines.
