Iron minerals

Japanese: 鉄鉱物 - てつこうぶつ（英語表記）iron minerals

A general term for minerals that contain iron. Iron minerals have a variety of chemical compositions, including sulfides, oxides, hydroxides, halides, carbonates, phosphates, arsenates, and silicates. In these minerals, iron exists in the oxidation states of Fe2 ⁺ and Fe3 ⁺ . In igneous and metamorphic rocks, divalent iron exists together with magnesium in colored silicate minerals such as olivine, pyroxene, amphibole, and biotite, and trivalent iron replaces some of the aluminum in silicate minerals.

鉄を含む鉱物を総称していう。鉄鉱物は硫化鉱物，酸化鉱物，水酸化鉱物，ハロゲン化鉱物，炭酸塩鉱物，リン酸塩鉱物，ヒ酸塩鉱物，ケイ酸塩鉱物など多様な化学組成をもっている。これらの鉱物中で鉄はFe^2＋およびFe^3＋の酸化状態で存在する。火成岩や変成岩中では，2価の鉄はマグネシウムとともにカンラン石，輝石，角セン石，黒雲母などの有色ケイ酸塩鉱物中に存在し，3価の鉄はケイ酸塩鉱物中のアルミニウムの一部を置換している。
