Natal
The capital of Rio Grande do Norte state in northeastern Brazil. Built as a port in the 19th century, it is the shortest route to Africa, making it a key location on the transatlantic sea and air routes, and is rapidly developing. Founded as a fortress at the end of the 16th century. Population: 803,739 (2010).
