Iron ore

Japanese: 鉄鉱石 - てっこうせき
Iron ore
Ore used as a raw material for steelmaking. Its industrial value is determined by the iron content (40-50% or more is required), the state of chemical reactions with oxygen and other elements, and the composition of the slag, but the most commonly used are magnetite, hematite, and limonite. Japan produces little iron other than a small amount of iron sand, so it depends on imports to meet most of its huge demand.
