A type of chronicle. Author unknown. It was written during the reign of Emperor Gouda (reigned 1274-87), and continues from the end of the Kamakura period to the beginning of the Northern and Southern Courts period. 4 volumes (10 volumes in popular edition). The title may mean that it summarizes the main events of each emperor's reign. The extant portion goes from the Age of the Gods to Emperor Hanazono, but the middle and end are missing, so the end is unclear. The contents of the book are a brief history of each emperor, with their Chinese-style posthumous title or posthumous title, and a chronological record of important events during their reign. Then there are sections for the retired emperor, crown prince, harem, former and former empresses, Saigū, regents, ministers, Dainagon, Kebiishi betto, councillors, Kurodo no kami, former officials, non-councillors, and princes and princesses, with the names of the relevant people recorded.
