Akikuni Kasuga

Japanese: 春日顕国 - かすがあきくに

?-1344 A military commander during the Nanboku-cho period.
He served the Southern Court and became a chamberlain in the first year of the Engen era (Kenmu 3). He served Kitabatake Akiie and was active in Hitachi and Shimotsuke. He later rescued Kitabatake Chikafusa, who was based at Oda Castle in Hitachi. After Seki Castle and Ooba Castle fell in the fourth year of the Kokoku era (Koukoku 4), Chikafusa fled to Yoshino in defeat, but he continued to fight bravely as a central figure in the Southern Court in the east, but was captured and killed on March 9, the fifth year of the Kokoku era (Koukoku 5). His name was later changed to Akitoki.

南朝につかえ,建武(けんむ)3=延元元年侍従となる。北畠顕家(あきいえ)にしたがい,常陸(ひたち)・下野(しもつけ)で活躍。のち常陸の小田城によった北畠親房(ちかふさ)をたすける。康永2=興国4年関城・大宝城が陥落,親房が吉野へ敗走したのちも,東国の南朝方の中心として奮戦したが捕らえられ,康永3=興国5年3月9日殺された。名はのち顕時。
