Japanese: 大伴宿奈麻呂 - おおとものすくなまろ

Years of birth: unknown. An official in the early Nara period. The third son of Dainagon Yasumaro, who played an active role in the Jinshin War (672). Younger brother of Tabibito. Father of Tamura Daijo and Sakanoue Daijo. A poem sent to him by a maid at Prince Otsu's palace when he was young appears in the Manyoshu. In Wadō 1 (708), he was promoted to Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade, and in 715, he was promoted to Junior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade. In 715, he was appointed as the head of the Left Guard. In 717, he was promoted to Senior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade, and in 718, when the offices of Azetashi were established, he became Bingo no Kami and Azetashi, and was in charge of the provinces of Aki (Hiroshima Prefecture) and Suo (Yamaguchi Prefecture). In 724, he was promoted to Senior Fifth Rank, Upper Grade, and in 724, he was promoted to Junior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade. From the notes on Tamura Daijo's Man'yoshu (volume 4, no. 759), we know that he rose to the rank of Udaiben and lived in Tamura Village. His own poems are also included in the Man'yoshu.

奈良初期の官人。壬申の乱(672)で活躍した大納言安麻呂の第3子。旅人の弟。田村大嬢,坂上大嬢の父。若いころ,大津皇子の宮の侍女からの贈歌が『万葉集』にみえる。和銅1(708)年従五位下に昇り,5年従五位上に。霊亀1(715)年には左衛士督に任じた。養老1(717)年正五位下に進み,3年按察使設置の際備後守で按察使となり,安芸(広島県),周防(山口県)の2国をも管した。4年正五位上,さらに神亀1(724)年従四位下に昇叙した。田村大嬢の万葉歌(巻4,759番)の左注によって,右大弁にまでなり,田村里に住んだことが知られる。自作の歌も『万葉集』に載る。
