Nestorian Catholicos. Reigned 780-823. He established the Golden Age of the Nestorian Church. He tightened the discipline of the church, which had been prone to corruption under the Abbasids' patronage, and established the doctrine of Nestorianism through two synods (790, 804). Missionary activity also reached its peak during this period, with missionaries sent to Central Asia, China, India, Tibet, Siberia, and many other places, and many new bishoprics were established. Timotheus had a great influence on the Abbasids as an advisor to the caliph.

ネストリウス派のカトリコス。在位780‐823年。ネストリウス派教会の黄金時代を実現させた。アッバース朝の厚遇のもとでともすれば腐敗に陥りがちな教会の規律を引きしめ，2回の主教会議(790,804)を通じてネストリウス派の教義を確定した。またこの時代に布教活動も頂点に達し，中央アジア，中国，インド，チベット，シベリアなどに宣教師が送られ，新しい主教座が多数開かれた。ティモテオスはカリフの顧問としてアッバース朝に大きな影響力を有した。
