George Alexander Cassady Devine

British director and actor. He became passionate about theater while studying at Oxford. He started out as an actor, but gradually moved into directing. From 1946 to 1952, he worked with director Glen Byam Shaw and French director Michel Jacques Saint-Denis at the Old Vic, producing artistic plays. He was also head of the Young Vic, the experimental department of the Old Vic, and a teacher at the Old Vic's drama school.

イギリスの演出家，俳優。オックスフォード在学中から演劇活動に熱中。最初はおもに俳優として仕事をしていたが，しだいに演出に向かい，1946年から52年にかけては，演出家ショーGlen Byam Shaw，フランス出身の演出家サン･ドニMichel Jacques Saint‐Denisとともにオールド･ビックに拠って芸術的演劇の制作に努めた。同時に，オールド･ビックの実験的部門ヤング･ビックの責任者，オールド･ビック付属演劇学校の教師でもあった。
