Jeong Ji-yong

Japanese: 鄭芝溶 - ていしよう

Korean modernist poet. He began publishing poetry when he studied at Doshisha University in 1923, and published Japanese poems in the journal Modern Landscapes, which was led by Kitahara Hakushu. After returning to Korea, he continued to write poetry while teaching, and his works, such as Nostalgia, The Sea, and Mount Baeksusan, were collected in Jeong Ji-yong Collected Poems (1935) and Baekrokdam (1941). His poems lack depth, but they are characterized by careful choice of words and skillful use of sensory metaphors.

朝鮮のモダニズム詩人。1923年同志社大学に留学するころから詩を発表し始め，北原白秋主宰の《近代風景》にも日本語詩を発表する。帰国後は教鞭(きょうべん)をとりながら作詩活動を続け，《郷愁》《海》《白寿山》などが《鄭芝溶詩集》（1935年），《白鹿潭》（1941年）に収められる。詩は深みに欠けるが，言葉の選び方に神経を使っており感覚的な比喩が巧みである。
