Dionysios II

Japanese: ディオニュシオス[2世](英語表記)Dionysios II
Dionysios II
400-330 BC. Eldest son of Dionysius I, tyrant of Syracuse. Reigned 367-344 BC. Succeeded Dionysius I on his death, but lacked political ability and military ambition. He loved the study of philosophy and invited philosophers to his court, but Plato's attempt to educate a philosopher king failed. Syracuse was occupied by Dion in 357 BC, but was recaptured in 347 BC. In 344 BC, he surrendered to Timoleon, who was sent from Corinth, and was sent to Corinth, where he spent the rest of his life.
