Zasius

Japanese: ツァジウス（英語表記）Zasius

1461‐1535
German legal scholar. His German name was Ulrich Zäsy. He made outstanding achievements during the period of succession to Roman law, i.e. the beginning of German jurisprudence. He was born to a wealthy citizen of Constance. He worked as a notary and clerk in the same city, before becoming city clerk of Freiburg in 1494. He was fascinated by humanist thought and became a Latin teacher for a time, but in 1501 he obtained a doctorate in law from the University of Freiburg, and the following year he was appointed city court clerk and university legal advisor, and served as a professor from 1503 until his death.

ドイツの法学者。ドイツ名はツェジUlrich Zäsy。ローマ法の継受期すなわちドイツの固有の法学の開始期における卓越した業績を示した。コンスタンツの富裕な市民の子に生まれる。同市で公証人，書記などをつとめてから，1494年にフライブルクの都市書記となる。人文主義思潮に心酔して一時期ラテン語の教師となったが，1501年フライブルク大学で法学博士の学位を取得，翌年同市裁判所書記と大学法律顧問に就任，03年から死没まで教授職にあった。
