Carpet - Rug

Japanese:
Carpet - Rug
A general term for felt and rugs made of wool or cloth. Also called rugs. Generally, a roll of one tan is called a carpet, and a single piece is called a rug or dantsu. Hand-woven carpets have been made in Western and Central Asia since ancient times. In addition to the warp and weft threads that make up the fabric, threads of a different color are tied to the warp threads one by one. The ends are cut off and raised into nap to create patterns. Most carpets are made from wool, but silk is used for high-quality Persian carpets. Nabeshima dantsu in Japan is a cotton product. Since the 19th century, machine-made carpets have become mainstream in developed countries, and the most common are the Brussels carpet, which has a pile weave on the surface, and the Wilton carpet, which has the pile weave cut off and made into a nap-like shape. Recently, carpets have been made in which the fibers are arranged by machine and attached to the base fabric with adhesive.
