Rainbow gnome (English name) Elagatis bipinnulatus

Japanese: ツムブリ（英語表記）Elagatis bipinnulatus

A marine fish of the family Carangidae in the order Perciformes, it belongs to the same subfamily Caranginae as the amberjack. Tsumburi is a name given to the area around Enoshima, and is similar to the yellowtail as it is also called Okiburi (Wakayama, Mie) and Hamachi (Kochi), but it is longer and thinner than the yellowtail, has a larger tail fin and a deeper notch at the rear edge. In China it is called spindle yellowtail. It is called Kitsune (Kochi) because of the sharp tip of its snout. The back of the body is indigo blue, the abdomen is silvery white, and there are three yellow vertical bands on the sides of the body, the central one of which runs from the snout through the eye to the tail.

スズキ目アジ科の海産魚でブリ類と同じブリモドキ亜科に属する。ツムブリは江ノ島付近の名称で，オキブリ(和歌山，三重)，ハマチ(高知)などと呼ばれるようにブリに似ているが，ブリより細長く，尾びれが大きく後縁の切れ込みが深い。中国では紡錘鰤の名で呼ばれる。キツネ(高知)と呼ばれるのは吻（ふん）の先端がとがっているため。体の背部は藍青色，腹部は銀白色で，体側に3本の黄色の縦帯があり，中央の1本は吻から眼を通り尾まで達している。
