Since the Jin Dynasty (265-420) in China, this was one of the cars that was included in processions when the emperor went out, and it was a device that measured the distance traveled by the number of revolutions of the car. A wooden figure was mounted on the car and beat a drum every time one ri was traveled. The "procession car" described in the Roman book "Ten Books on Architecture" written at the end of the 1st century B.C.E. by Vitruvius and the "measurement car" used by Ino Tadataka for surveying during the Edo period both worked on the same principle, but both used gear mechanisms to read the number of revolutions of the wheel and did not have drums or wooden figures.
