Japanese: 石和[町] - いさわ

An old town in Higashiyatsushiro District, Yamanashi Prefecture, east of Kofu City. The city center was a former post town on the Koshu Highway, and is served by the Chuo Main Line. Grape cultivation is thriving, and the area also produces persimmons, peaches, and apples. A hot spring (simple spring, 45°C) emerged in 1961, and many tourists come to visit the town, which also serves as a grape picking spot. In October 2004, the town merged with Kasugai Town in Higashiyamanashi District, and Misaka Town, Ichinomiya Town, Yatsushiro Town, and Sakaigawa Village in Higashiyatsushiro District, to become a city, Fuefuki City. 山梨県東八代(ひがしやつしろ)郡，甲府市東隣の旧町。中心市街は甲州道中の旧宿場町で中央本線が通じる。ブドウ栽培が盛んで，カキ，モモ，リンゴも産する。1961年にわいた温泉（単純泉，45℃）があり，ブドウ狩を兼ねた観光客が多い。2004年10月東山梨郡春日居町，東八代郡御坂町，一宮町，八代町，境川村と合併し市制，笛吹市となる。14.92km²。２万6923人（2003）。
