Tsumugi millipede (Tsumugi millipede) - Tsumugi millipede

Japanese: ツムギヤスデ(績馬陸) - ツムギヤスデ
Tsumugi millipede (Tsumugi millipede) - Tsumugi millipede
A general term for arthropods belonging to the order Nematophora in the class Diplopoda (class Millipedes). They have slightly long antennae on their heads, and on both sides are eyes made up of dozens of ommatidia. They have more than 26 body segments, and each dorsal plate has a protruding hump-like eaves with three large setae, giving them a hairy appearance. They are named after the 1-3 pairs of spinning glands at the end of their tails. They have a soft body among millipedes, and walk quite quickly. To lay eggs, they build nests out of fine fibers secreted from the spinning glands, and lay dozens of eggs in them at once.
