Born on February 8, 1898. Jodo sect. Head priest of Seiryoji Temple in Saga, Kyoto. Studied the history of Buddhism in China during the Northern Wei, Sui, and Tang dynasties. Served as director of the Institute of Humanities at Kyoto University, director of Kyoto National Museum, and professor at Buddhist University. Chairman of the Japan-China Friendship Buddhist Association. Member of the Academy of Sciences. Died on January 30, 1980. Age 81. Born in Aichi Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto Imperial University. His nickname was Bon'gu. His pen name was Sairensha Yasuyo. His works include "Research on the History of Japanese-Chinese Buddhist Negotiations."
