...There are approximately 2,000 teachers and 31,000 students. In the former West Berlin area, the Free University of Berlin was established in 1948 in the Dahlem district, based on teachers and students from the former University of Berlin. Initially, it had six faculties: medicine, law, economics, literature, science, and veterinary medicine, but as of 1996, it consists of 17 departments, including medicine, law, education, philosophy, and social sciences.
