Born in the first year of the Kojo era. Of Jurchen origin. After teaching in Zhaozhou, he was appointed by Kublai Khan (later Emperor Shizu) and played an active role in pacifying southern China. He volunteered to be a diplomatic envoy to Japan. He visited Japan in 1271 and 1272, but was unsuccessful in inviting the Japanese to Japan. He tried to persuade Kublai Khan of the futility and difficulty of invading Japan, but he was not listened to. He died in the 23rd year of the Zhiyuan era. He was 70 years old.
