…An official history of Vietnam written in Chinese. Ngo Si Lien, a historian of the Le dynasty, first revised the Records of the History of Vietnam (1272) compiled by Le Van Phu of the Tran Dynasty and the Sequel to Records of the History of Vietnam (1445) compiled by Phan Phu Thien of the Le dynasty, and compiled a new order. He compiled the records up to independence from China in five volumes, and the Annals of the Chronicles in ten volumes from the Ñnh Dynasty to the establishment of the Le dynasty (1479). He submitted the records to the Le dynasty under this title. Later, six volumes of Annals of the Chronicles, compiled by an unknown author in the 16th century, and three volumes of the Sequel to the Annals compiled by Pham Cong Chu in 1665, were added to cover the history of the Le dynasty up to the reign of Emperor Shenzong, making the official history 23 volumes in total. …
