A facility for worshippers at shrines and temples to use the water basin. They are built on the side of the approach to a temple or shrine, or in front of a hall (main building), and contain a water basin and a water basin. They are also written as chozuya, and are called chozu-dokoro, suibansha, mizuya, or mizuyakata. Usually, the pillars at the four corners are inclined upward toward the center of the floor plan, that is, four pillars are used in a four-way tilt, and the roof is open on all four sides. Most roofs are gabled or hip-and-gable, but some have large karahafu (traditional Japanese gabled roofs), such as the suibansha (national treasure) at Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
