Electron spectroscopy

Japanese: 電子分光 - でんしぶんこう(英語表記)electron spectroscopy
Electron spectroscopy
A general term for methods of irradiating a material with light (X-rays, ultraviolet light), electrons, ions, excited molecules, etc., and measuring the kinetic energy distribution of electrons emitted from the material (this is called electron spectroscopy). Methods are classified according to the difference in the irradiation source and the electron emission process. Methods that use light irradiation are called photoelectron spectroscopy (abbreviated as PES). Of these, those that use X-rays are called X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (abbreviated as XPS), and those that use ultraviolet light are called ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (abbreviated as UPS).
