…Following the heyday of the Old School, in the second half of the 18th century, eclecticism was so prevalent that eight or nine out of ten famous Confucian scholars were said to be eclectic scholars, and it dominated the Confucian world. Representative theories can be seen in Inoue Kinga's "Jingi Sechu" (1764), a proponent of eclecticism, and Katayama Kaneyama's "Yanshi Suito" (1775).
