The large amounts of pumice and volcanic ash that erupted created the foothills of Higashinohara, Chojagahara, and Nishinohara within the caldera, and what drifted as far as the northern part of Hiroshima and Okayama prefectures is known as Kibitsuchi. In Chojagahara, Imperata japonica and Japanese larkspur grow, and Renge azalea, Weigela, Field thistle, and Waremoko bloom with beautiful flowers depending on the season. ...
