A Chinese nationalist party. Founded in Paris in December 1923 by nationalists from the May Fourth Patriotic Movement, including Zeng Qi (1892-1951) and Zuo Shunsheng (1893-1969). Its motto was "eliminate traitors at home and resist authoritarianism abroad," and it advocated the supremacy of the state and opposed Japanese aggression. Its official journal was the Shanghai-published Xing Lion (1924-?). It opposed the one-party dictatorship of the Kuomintang and the classism of the Communist Party, seeking a third way, but ultimately cooperated with the Kuomintang. It still has an organization in Hong Kong. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
