Sensai Emura

Japanese: 江村専斎 - えむらせんさい

1565-1664 Ada-Toyotomi: A physician and Confucian scholar in the early Edo period.
Born in the 8th year of Eiroku. Father of Emura Bokusai, Gosai, and Nutsusai. Born in Kyoto. Learned medicine from Hata Soha. Served Kato Kiyomasa, later Mori Tadamasa, Lord of Tsuyama Domain in Mimasaka (Okayama Prefecture). He was also good at waka poetry, and was acquainted with Hosokawa Yusai and others. He lived to be 100 years old, and his conversations were compiled by Ito Tan'an as "Miscellaneous Talks of the Elderly." He died on September 26th, 4th year of Kanbun. He was 100 years old. His given name was Sogu. His other name was Ishoan.

永禄(えいろく)8年生まれ。江村樸斎・剛斎・訥斎の父。京都の人。医術を秦宗巴(はた-そうは)にまなぶ。加藤清正,のち美作(みまさか)(岡山県)津山藩主森忠政につかえた。和歌もよくし,細川幽斎らとまじわる。100歳の長寿をたもち,その談話が伊藤坦庵により「老人雑話」としてまとめられている。寛文4年9月26日死去。100歳。名は宗具。別号に倚松庵。
