A bird of the Psittacidae family, order Psittacidae. Total length about 36 cm. A medium-sized parrot with grey above and beautiful pink below. Although it has the name "parakeet," it belongs to the Psittacinae subfamily and genus Psittacinae. They live in grasslands and sparse forests in Australia, living in flocks of about 20 to 40 birds. Flocks have a common roosting site and travel between the roosting site and feeding site every day, foraging for grass seeds on the ground. During the breeding season, they split into pairs and breed in nearby tree holes, but each pair protects the tree with the nest hole from other pairs.
