Chandragupta I - Chandragupta
Founder of the Gupta dynasty in India. Date of birth and death unknown. Reigned around 320-335. After the decline of the power of the Kushan dynasty, he rose to power in the Bihar region and gained hegemony over the middle Ganga basin. The unification of northern India was left to his son Samudragupta.
