Located in the eastern part of Mie Prefecture, facing Ise Bay, it is a long, narrow coastal plain stretching from north to south. It starts from the Kiso River Delta in the north and reaches the Median Tectonic Line along the Kushida River in the south. It narrows inland at around Tsu and Matsusaka in the center, and the coastline curves sharply eastward in the southern part. It is about 90 kilometers north to south and 15 to 25 kilometers east to west, and the inland part is bounded by the steep slopes of the tilted land mass that make up the Suzuka Mountains, and the Takami Mountains and Kii Mountains that continue to the south. Alluvial fans and terraces have developed at the foot of the mountains, and alluvial plains formed by rivers such as the Inabe, Suzuka, Ano, Kumozu, Kushida, and Miyagawa Rivers from the north extend along the coast. Rice cultivation, mainly Koshihikari, is popular, and greenhouse horticulture such as strawberries is also practiced. The coastal area is also an industrial area. It is the main part of Mie Prefecture and contains seven of the prefecture's 14 cities: Kuwana, Yokkaichi, Suzuka, Kameyama, Tsu, Matsusaka, and Ise. JR's Kisei Main Line, Kansai Main Line, Meisho Line, and Sangu Line, Kintetsu Railway's Nagoya Line, Osaka Line, Yamada Line, Yunoyama Line, Suzuka Line, Ise Railway, and National Route 1 and 23 run through it.
