Also known as the honey badger. A carnivorous mammal of the Mustelidae family that likes to attack beehives and eat the honey (illustration). It looks similar to a badger, with a short, thick body and thick limbs, but has a wide, prominent gray or white band running down its back from the top of its head to the base of its tail. The rest of its body is dark brown or black. Its anal glands are well developed and it can squirt a foul-smelling liquid. Its body length is 60-75 cm, its tail length is 20-25 cm, and it weighs 7-13 kg. It is found in most of Africa, from Senegal to Sudan and the Cape of Good Hope.

別名ミツアナグマ。好んでハチの巣を襲い，みつを食べる食肉目イタチ科の哺乳類（イラスト）。外観はアナグマに似て胴が太く短く，四肢が太いが，頭頂から尾の基部までの背中によく目だつ灰色ないし白色の幅広い帯が走る。他の部分は暗褐色ないし黒色。肛門腺はよく発達し，悪臭のある液を飛ばすことができる。体長60～75cm，尾長20～25cm，体重7～13kg。セネガルからスーダン，喜望峰に至るアフリカの大部分に分布する。
