Chikura [town] - Chikura

Japanese: 千倉[町] - ちくら

An old town in Awa District facing the Pacific Ocean in southern Chiba Prefecture. There are many forests. There are the fishing ports of Chikura, Hedate, and Shiramatsu. Rice and field crops are also cultivated. It is becoming a tourist destination. The Uchibo Line runs through the town. The coast is part of Minamiboso Quasi-National Park, and mineral springs flow from the coast. In March 2006, it merged with Awa District's Tomiura Town, Toyama Town, Shirahama Town, Maruyama Town, Wada Town, and Miyoshi Village to become a city, Minamiboso City. ^{36.64 km2} .
