Focal plane shutter

...To control the exposure time, a shutter is placed. Shutters are broadly divided into lens shutters and focal plane shutters, depending on where they block the light entering the lens, but in either case, the shutter is mainly made of a blade or curtain that blocks light, and consists of a mechanism that drives this and a governor that controls the exposure time. Lens shutters are often placed inside or immediately after the lens, and those placed inside the lens are called between-the-lens shutters and those immediately after the lens are called behind-the-lens shutters, but in small cameras such as Minox and 110-inch cameras, the shutter may be placed just before the lens due to spatial constraints (before-the-lens shutter).
