A village in Minamitsugaru district, central Aomori prefecture. Population 9,151 (1995). Located in the southern part of the Tsugaru Plain, the village is made up of alluvial land of the Aseishi River, which flows west through the center of the plain. During the Nanboku-cho period, the village was known as Inaka district and Inakadate, and in early modern times it was part of the Tsugaru domain. Inakadate, located in the center of the village, was the castle of the Sentoku clan, which was under the Nanbu clan, during the Sengoku period. Sixty percent of the village area is made up of rice paddies, and the village is known as the best producer of high-quality rice in the prefecture, with rice yields per 10 ares among the best in the country. 青森県中部,南津軽郡の村。人口9151(1995)。津軽平野南部に位置し,中央を西流する浅瀬石(あせいし)川の沖積地からなる。南北朝期には田舎郡,田舎楯の名がみられ,近世には津軽藩領であった。中心の田舎館には,戦国時代には南部氏配下の千徳氏の居城があった。村域の6割を水田が占め,県下一の良質米の産地として知られ,米の10a当り収量は全国屈指の成績をあげている。浅瀬石川の自然堤防上ではリンゴの栽培も行われている。
