Force meter - force meter

Japanese: 力計 - ちからけい
Force meter - force meter
An instrument that converts force into displacement using an elastic body and measures the displacement to determine the magnitude of the applied force. Figure 1 shows a type of measuring instrument that measures compressive or tensile force, called an annular spring dynamometer. It uses a loop- or ring-shaped spring made of special alloy steel, and measures the deflection caused by force with a dial gauge or micrometer. Instead of mechanical deflection measuring instruments, instruments that can obtain an electrical output using a differential transformer or linear scale are also used.
