Futabaran - Futabaran
A small terrestrial orchid (illustration) with two opposite leaves growing in the center of the stem. It is widely distributed in the subarctic zone of the Northern Hemisphere. It is also called Koftabaran. The rhizome is long and slender, running horizontally underground. The flower stalk is 10-20 cm tall and has two opposite leaves in the middle. The leaves are heart-shaped and 1-2 cm long. From June to August, the terminal inflorescence produces 5-6 flowers somewhat sparsely. The flowers are green or brownish, about 3 mm in diameter, and the tepals unfold. The lip is about 3 mm long, with a pair of small projections at the base, and the tip splits into two and extends like a tail.
