Thiopental

It is an ultra-short-acting barbiturate anesthetic. With a normal intravenous dose, it immediately induces a deep state of anesthesia that lasts for about 20 minutes. It is widely used for rapid induction, but since it has a depressant effect on the respiratory and circulatory systems, artificial respiration equipment is required when using it. In the Aum Shinrikyo incident that came to light in 1995, it was reported that it was secretly used as a truth serum within the cult, and it became widely known. 超短時間作用性バルビツール系麻酔薬。通常量の静脈注射でただちに深麻酔状態に入り，約20分間持続する。急速導入用として広く使われるが，呼吸や循環系に抑制作用があるので，使用に際しては人工呼吸設備が必要。1995年に明らかになったオウム真理教事件では，教団内で自白剤として密かに使用されたことが報道され，一般に知られるようになった。
