Converter gas - Tenro gas (English spelling)

This refers to the gas generated from converters used to remove carbon and other impurities from pig iron. For a production volume of 10,000 tons of pig iron per day, approximately 800,000 m3 of converter gas is generated per day. Its composition (volume) is 50-60% carbon monoxide, 17-20% carbon dioxide, 21-22% nitrogen, and 1-2% hydrogen. 銑鉄中の炭素その他の不純物を取り除くために使われる転炉から発生するガスをいう。銑鉄1万t/日の生産量に対して転炉ガスは約80万m3/日発生する。その組成(容量)は，一酸化炭素50～60％，二酸化炭素17～20％，窒素21～22％，水素1～2％である。ふつうは製鉄所の燃料として使われるが，化学原料としての利用も可能である。【冨永 博夫】
