This refers to the gas generated from converters used to remove carbon and other impurities from pig iron. For a production volume of 10,000 tons of pig iron per day, approximately 800,000 m3 of converter gas is generated per day. Its composition (volume) is 50-60% carbon monoxide, 17-20% carbon dioxide, 21-22% nitrogen, and 1-2% hydrogen. It is usually used as fuel in steelworks, but it can also be used as a chemical raw material. [Tominaga Hiroo] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
