Tanjakusui - Tanjakusui

Japanese:
Tanjakusui - Tanjakusui

A Chinese thinker in the mid-Ming dynasty. His pen name was Yuanming and his pen name was Ganquan. He was from Zengcheng County, Guangdong Province. He was a disciple of Chen Baisha (Kenzhang). Later, he met Wang Yangming (Shuren) and developed a lifelong friendship. Both left Zhu Xi school and followed the path of Shingaku. During Zhan Ruoshui's lifetime, he had a great influence and was said to have divided the world with Wang Yangming. However, his practical philosophy of "recognizing the principles of heaven wherever you go" did not have the destructive power against established values as Wang Yangming's philosophy of conscience and mind, and was not able to bring about great new fortunes. In addition, although the school produced many outstanding figures, in terms of ideological content, it was so concerned about the possibility of the paradox of the theory of conscience that, while it remained in the philosophy of Shingaku, it became too close to Neo-Confucianism and lost its originality as a school.
