…In 1919, Eisuke Fukuda bought the paper, and Fukuda worked to revamp it by reducing articles about entertainment and promoting articles about hobbies and business. In 1923, he merged with the Osaka Shimpo and published the Osaka Miyako Shimbun, but it did not perform well and was suspended in 1926. The Miyako Shimbun was fortunate to be one of the three newspapers that escaped destruction during the Great Kanto Earthquake, and it also survived the expansion of Osaka-based newspapers (the Asahi Shimbun and the Mainichi Shimbun) into Tokyo at the end of the Taisho and early Showa periods by creating distinctive pages, and developed relatively smoothly. …
