Narashino [city] - Narashino
Located in the northwest of Chiba Prefecture, facing Tokyo Bay, and bordering Chiba City to the northwest. Established as a city in 1954. Including Narashino, which is part of the Shimousa Plateau, it became an army training ground after the Meiji era, and a cavalry brigade and a railway regiment were established there, developing into a military city. After World War II, the site became a university site, a reclaimed land, and a Self-Defense Force garrison. The center is the former Tsudanuma-cho district, and it is connected by the Sobu Main Line, Keiyo Line, Keisei Electric Railway Main Line, Keisei Chiba Line, Shin-Keisei Electric Railway Line, and the Higashi-Kanto Expressway, and has become a rapidly residential urban area. The coast is part of Keiyo Port, where fishery companies have their facilities, and inland, industrial parks have been developed and factories for machinery, metals, etc. have been established. In June 1993, the Yatsu tidal flats were registered as a Ramsar Convention wetland. The city suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 20.97 km2 . 164,530 people (2010).
