Tatsunoichi

Japanese:
Tatsunoichi
An ancient market in the area adjacent to Daian-ji Temple in Yamato Soegami County (present-day Tatsu City, Nara City). Its name is said to come from the fact that it was a market that opened on the day of the Dragon every month, or that it is in the Dragon (southeast) direction of Heijo-kyo. Its name appears in poems by Kakinomoto no Hitomaro in the Shui Wakashu and in The Pillow Book. As it corresponds to Sakyo Hachijo in Heijo-kyo, perhaps the Hachijo market that appears in the order for 998 in the Todaiji Yoroku refers to Tatsu City. In the Middle Ages, it was called Tatsuichi-sho.
