Tatsuno [city] - Tatsuno

Japanese:
Tatsuno [city] - Tatsuno
Located in the southwest of Hyogo Prefecture, in the northwest corner of the Harima Plain, this city faces the Ibo River. In 1951, the town of Tatsuno and the villages of Itsusai, Ibo, Kamioka, and Honda merged to form a city. The population is 40,607 (1995). During the Edo period, it was the castle town of the Wakisaka clan, and even today the castle ruins, winding roads, and samurai residences still retain the feel of a castle town. When the Sanyo Main Line opened in the mid-Meiji period, Tatsuno Station was established in Ibogawacho, 6km south of the city, and when the Kishin Line opened in the early Showa period, Hon-Tatsuno Station was established 2km east of the city, on the left bank of the Ibo River. As a result, the development of modern industry was delayed.
