Japanese: 立衆 - たちしゅう

〘Noun〙① A general term for supporting roles in Noh, Kyogen, etc., in which several people appear as a group playing the same role. The central figure is called the head of the group (tachishira) or head of the group. In Noh, they are called ministers, soldiers, and foot soldiers, while in Kyogen they are called townspeople, little demons, and small log sellers. ※Toraakirahon Kyogen, "Tachishuu zainin" (late Muromachi period - early modern period) "At that time, the tachishuu will retreat." ② A merchant who is an arbiter at the rice market in Dojima, Osaka.
