It is also called Wendish or Lusatian. It is spoken in the eastern part of Germany, in the region above the Spree River. It is divided into High Sorbian and Low Sorbian, both of which are taught in schools. It has about 100,000 speakers. It belongs to the West Slavic group of the Slavic language family.
