Kasper's Law

...This phenomenon is called birth in a coffin. One week of decomposition in air is equivalent to two weeks in water and eight weeks in soil, and this law is called Kasper's Law. The decomposition of a corpse is accelerated by damage caused by animals, and flies and maggots can turn the body into a skeleton in two weeks, or small animals in the water can turn exposed parts into skeletons in one day.
