Mount Takago

This mountain is located in the southwest of Chiba Prefecture, on the border between Kimitsu City and Futtsu City on the Boso Hills. At 315 meters above sea level, it is the watershed of the Koito River and the Minato River, and the area is covered by a large prefectural forest, making it one of the largest forested areas in the prefecture. Japanese macaques live nearby and are designated as a national natural monument. After successful feeding of the macaques, Takatoyama Natural Zoo was opened and the area is included in the Takatoyama Prefectural Natural Park area. On the east side of the mountain, the "Seiwa Prefectural Forest" was opened and is used for fishing and camping.

千葉県南西部、房総(ぼうそう)丘陵上の君津市(きみつし)と富津市(ふっつし)の境界に位置する山。標高315メートルで、小糸(こいと)川と湊(みなと)川の分水界となっており、一帯は県有林が広くて県下有数の森林地帯をなす。付近にニホンザルが生息し、国の天然記念物に指定されているが、その餌(え)づけが成功して高宕山自然動物園が開設され、県立高宕山自然公園区域に入っている。山の東側には「清和(せいわ)県民の森」が開設され、釣りやキャンプに利用されている。
