A town in Higashi Shirakawa District, southern Fukushima Prefecture. It occupies the mountainous area upstream of the Kuji River. It produces rice, konjac, and timber, and also cultivates flowers. Higashidate, the center of the town, is a village along National Route 118, through which the Suigun Line passes. It is home to the scenic Yamatsuriyama Mountain and the Kuji River Valley.
