A rebellion in the mid-Heian period. It began in 1028 (Chogen 1) when Shimousa Gonnosuke Taira Tadatsune burned Awa no Kami Koretada to death and occupied Kazusa Kokufu. The Imperial Court tried to suppress the rebellion by appointing Taira Naokata as the punitive emissary, Kazusa no Kami Koretoki as Kazusa no Kami, Masasuke as Awa no Kami, and mainly the Sadamori lineage Taira clan, but failed. They then appointed Minamoto no Yorinobu as the punitive emissary, and finally pacified the rebellion in 1031. Tadatsune died during his capture in Kyoto, and his descendants were pardoned. After more than three years of pursuit, the three provinces of Boso were destroyed and the entire southern Kanto region was devastated, but during the restoration, a new feudal system developed and many samurai groups were born. In that sense, this rebellion, as a Kanto rebellion that surpassed the Taira no Masakado Rebellion in the 10th century, brought to light the collapse of the Ritsuryo local administrative system, and is regarded as an event that prompted the transition to a dynastic state system. This rebellion also marked the opportunity for the descendants of Minamoto no Yorinobu, who put down the rebellion, to rule the eastern provinces as the heads of the samurai, and Tadatsune's descendants also participated in the fighting following the Battle of Zenkunen (the Battle of Zenkunen) following Yorinobu's descendants.
