In general, compensating for frequency and phase characteristics to flatten the overall characteristics is called equalizing, and the device that does this is called an equalizer. A speaker equalizer is a cone-shaped phase equalizer placed in front of the diaphragm of a horn speaker to align the phase of the sound emitted from the diaphragm and extend the playback frequency characteristics to the high range.
